you should just make a deer out of a log for the body and a round cut piece for the head and whatever for the legs, i would think that would last a long time and it doesnt cost you very much if anything at all and when it finally falls apart from shooting it so much just make another one. i cant see it taking anymore than an hour or two to make

^ problem is, how do you get the arrows out of the wood easily? It's a pain to get an arrow out of a 1" board. Confused

A rotten log would work. But it is hard to pull arrows out of wood Bill & its not good for the arrows.
There ment really to enter with not much resistance. Flesh/rottin log/hay bail/.....etc.
But i have been out in the woods just doing free shoot, and you pick a log or bush & take aim.
Its fun and keeps you in practice. I made 25 arrows just for fun shooting, so if i break one no big deal.
But i have 4 Good glass arrows with broad heads, and there JUST for hunting game. Cool
Never buy good arrows to field shoot. You can buy good arrow shafts & put field points on them, thats ok.

^ i dont have one on my longbow. Ive never used one really. But ive heard they can be a very good thing.
Ive shot compound bows, but i dont own one yet ! lol.
Soem guys like the short stabilizers, & some like the long ones. The longer i think would produce a smoother longer shot.
Short ones may be good for ' hunting " in the bush etc. I dont know alot about them really.

I've never used a stabilizer before. I'm pretty good without one but I think it might help you so you don't jerk when you release the string. Obviously the longer one will be more stabile, because it has more rotational inertia, but the short one would be good if you don't want to smack it on stuff.

If I were to buy a bow tomorrow I'd probably buy a recurve bow. I only do target practice, and have no need for a sight. I like the look of them much better too.

Well awhile back, Dec 3 ? i was out of town working with my fishing / hunting buddy.
And we were talking about Bows & how i should get a compound as well.
So i did some thinking and said i guess i could look into it.
Then he told me his Dad had an older Compound Bow that was in good condtion never beat on.
So i said bring it over and i'll look at it. So he did and i bought it Cool
Not sure of the " pull weight " yet, got to take it down to my Bow guy and get it tested.
The bow is a Martin, & the older ones i seen on line were 50 to 75 lb pull weight.
You can adjust the pull weight by simply turning the allen key on the limbs.
I have to buy some sites and i want a new arrow rest, i dont like the one thats on it.
It also came with a quiver. Cool
