Thanks, and I have been shooting it for about 4 years now. It was my fathers but i restrung it and got the limbs adjusted after it had not been used for a while. he got it about 8 years ago. Im not even sure they make this modle anymore.

in nova scotia crossbows are illegal to hunt with. no idea why, but they are. i do love them too, but i can only use what im legally allowed to.

small game? man the bolt would fly threw the animal and then burry itself underground unless you were at a steep angle to the prey. even a bow when shot at an animal may yield a lost arrow. I lost 3 in my back yard when i first started and it took forever to find them, add to that leaves/sticks and good luck finding it. Cross bows, as well as long bows and compound bows, are extremely effective on medium (deer sized) and big game (moose/bear). I'd shoot at small game with mine but only using a "shocker" arrow tip. they are very blunt and wont go deep into the soil.

you get big power from cross bows man. be carefull. My bow has killed 2 deer and in both cases the arrow was sticking 1/2 out of the ground behind the deer after it went slap threw it.

that is a very interesting tool. im not sure if i like it or not. but it looks like it should work. I'd have to actually use one of those to be sure. Mind you, i have an air rifle that kills rabbits with great efficiency. soooo chances are that it could kill them. thing is you don't want your arrow to stick into the prey. you want it to go right threw. otherwise the arrow acts as a cork and it takes longer for the animal to bleed out and die, unless you hit something vital. like i said, i'd have to use one to make up my mind on it.

dave, what about putting another block across the bottom so that there is no pressure on the fletching? like.. you could even make it so that the arrow tips fit snugly into, but not all the way through, a bottom piece. I was thinking what if a cat or other anmial brushed up against it, they could get cut or frig up the arrow or tear the fletching.

im makeing a bottom pieace after dinner.
after i placed them i seen that it wasn't secure enufe. No animals to worry about.
But me getting up half awake in the morning & hitting them & wrecking the fletching
was a real factor,lol. Cool

Thanks. Im not going to paint it, it's just to hold my arrows in a safe place. If i get bored some time on a rainy day i might take it down & paint it.

Hmm good idea, however I would advise a floresant color such as orange. Yeah they may look like they're from 1990 but you can find anything in that color even in the amazon. Just my experiance with losing objects haha,

Well i did some chating with other hunters & Bowman. And an arrow colour really deppends on the person & there eye's.
I have a glow kind of orange nock on some other arrows & they look good but to my eyes really were not that easy to see in the bush. So i was trying the colour white on a piece of stick laying on the ground around bush, & my eyes caught it really easy. It really is a personal choice. Some people like, red, yellow, orange, even purple. One guy had purple fletching, on his arrows, said he could see them really good, i wouldn't think so, lol, but thats me. Cool

And i hope i can get some pic's of me & my buddy doing some hunting soon. I will post them for sure Troop.
