Post Bear Grylls... seriously? Reply with quote
Seriously guys, am I the only person here to wanted to jump him? This attention whore is going to kill people when they try to copy his stunts (that is all they are, stunts). I'm sure he knows how to survive, he just isn't sharing it with anyone else! And he taking attention from guys like Les, the REAL Man in Man vs Wild!

He is the Outdoorsman version of MTVs "Jack^ss"

I agree, Les isnt too fond of him either he said.

I personally dont like him because he tries to hard and is not original at all.

Really? I almost asked in the FAQs, but I wasn't sure. What has he said about him? Pretty much the same as everyone else?

Google "Survivorman Man vs Wild" the results are great. Just a lot of Bear bashing!

And of course, there is always some guy who has to come along with "Oh, but he was in the Foreign Legion and UK special forces." Bush has an Ivy League Masters, and was a fight pilot, how smart of a Commander of the US Armed forces has he been? It isn't what you did, it is what you know, and if Bear knows something, he isn't showing...

He pissed on himself to stay cool in the desert...

Yeh, I tried to watch him once - fell asleep! The impression I walked away with: He's a tool!!!!!!!

I would rather they put Survivorman re-runs back on than continue to show that idiotic show! I feel that he does more to harm "survival" than anything else out there today!!!!

He does, Ced! His hairbrained stunts are going to kill so many impressionable young adventurers and outdoorsmen. Safety first, guys, that is the important thing. While Les is breaking wood against 2 trees to avoid injury, like it should be, Bear is climbing a waterfall!? A WATEFALL! Why will I never need to know when I climb a waterfall!? When will their not be a simi-dry path to climb!?

Grrrrrrrr. Mad

I think Discovery needs to host the outdoors version of "The great biker build off" in Which team Les and Team Bear, lead by their perspective name sake, fight against eachother in some sort of Adventure race/eco-challange match. Show Bear for the fraud he really is.

He asked me what i thought about the show, I said some like it was very unoriginal. He said it was a complete ripp off survivorman.

I didnt attack Bear a few months back because I didnt know who he was until I had the misfortune of watching his show. This guy seems to have an ego from what I can see. He has that "I know everything I do is right" kind of attitude, its not cool.

Les says things like "I'm not the greatest survival guy", or "I'm not sure if this is going to work" which is nice. Showing that your only human is much better then having an egotisistcal "Full of it" mantra of yourself (Bear).

Bear dosnt admit he makes mistakes, I dont like that because no one is like that in real life.

Yeah, Bear has a HUGE ego, you can tell by the way he markets himself as some kind of tough guy. "Bear's got a black belt (Yeah, him and every other 5 year old in a first world country) he was in the Foriegn Legion (Yeah, being a grunt, big whoop)"

Survival isn't about being macho, it is about surviving!

Well said! Most of the those qualities he expresses are irrelevent to his show anyways, martial arts has very little to do with surviving. Laughing

Thanks troop. Survival for the Military is a tad different (My father was in Delta, in JSOC). You're main focus is normally evading or seeking out the enemy, you have been giving the gear needed for just this type is situation 9 times out of 10, and you can count on a fast extration 9 times out of 10. The only people who really need Survivorman-esque skills in the Armed Forces are the pilots, who could get dropped down in a no-fly zone, and forced to survive. In most operations, you have back up near by.

Oh, Doug, he has a 100 man crew with him, and you know the old staying "You don't have to outrun the bear..."
