What's up with this? Shocked

This knife normally sells for $100. Cabela's has it priced as $30. Are they clearancing them out and trying to get rid of them or something?

I may have to get me one. Wink

I was seriously considering it for a moment. Surprised

If I hadn't just dropped 60 bucks for a new Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian folder, I probably would get it. I don't really need any more fixed blades.

'Course, when has that ever stopped me? Laughing

Hey guys...not meaning to be the bearer of bad news, but be carefull with that one!
The one they sell for $26.95 is the FUSION Revolver.
Not the same quality as the standard Revolver model.
The Fusion line was added to the SOG listings as a low cost alternative to thier standard line.
Lower quality steel & manufacturing will get you a lower priced knife that will most likely stand up alright to light use,but probably nothing more.

I just hate to see folks spend money on stuff that may not be what they think it is.

Yeah, it appears they are made out of 420 steel.

But the one I posted from Cabela's is the regular one. 'Course, it's just 440A anyway. Might as well just spend the money on a better knife. Smile

Benchmade, anybody? Twisted Evil Cool

My Mini-Griptilian will be here tomorrow! Mr. Green

The Fusion Revolver is made in China & is made with 440A steel.
They do carry a one year warranty that will likely be needed if you use it for anything but light work.
They use a few different steels in the Fusion products. None of them are very high quality & heaven only knows what the heat treatment is like.
8Cr13Mov - 420 - 440A & who knows what else????

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if you could find different batches of the same model made out of different steels.

The better quality Seal Revolver & Hunter Revolver are made in the US & are AUS8 steel.

Check out the entire Fusion line & you'll find a lot of models that resemble thier higher priced models but at a substantially lower price.
We all know how / why they do that.
They'll probably sell a bunch of them due to the similarities but for the most part, you get what you pay for.

It's not meant to be a knock on SOG or anything...LOTS of companies are doing the same thing.
Buck...Benchmade...CRKT...Cold Steel just to name a few are ALL selling certain models at lower prices that are made "somewhere else".
If they want to stay competitive , they need to do that.
Cold Steel doesn't make ANY of thier knives.
They're contracted out to other companies & branded as Cold Steel products.
Saves them a bunch of money.

Anyway...take it for what it's worth Cool .

Yeah, I dont know about the fusion models, but the main models are a great little knife, my revolver H has seen lots of use, and still comes out from time to time.
