What I've been up to the last little bit, and some gear phot |
|
Hey guys,
Well, its been a while that I've been on for more than 5 mintues, and I think its about time I let you all know what I've been up to.
In the last two months I have been training with the city, and surrounding communities. I've joined not only a section of the forces in this northern section of canada, but im also doing search and rescue for an area of a little over 350 square Km. I've been traveling, going to all sorts of places, met alot of new people and have been happier than ever, my girl friend was offered a new job, and the both of us have been having the time of our young lives.
I have been doing various searches in the are as well and though it has been one of the harder spots of my life at the same time, I feel a great sense of fulfillment for sure.
So, enough of that, lets get on to some of the gear I've been picking up on reservists pay I might add.
First up though, I would like to let you all know how a few bits of my gear have been holding up the last few months.
The RC6 that I bought from KGD a few months ago has been an absolute dream to use, I have done a little work to it though to dress it up, took the edge thickness down and made it a little fancier looking.
The edge of the thing works great now, its been a solid user on a few searches as well as various recce missions.
And the sheath is still in tact.
I have been very pleased with this knife, RAT has made a very solid knife and if it means anything, a SAR tech and military personal recommends it.
Next up would have to be the lunada. I got this from Bushman5 a few months ago as well, it has seen use day in and out every day for the last 2+ months and I am very pleased with it. There are some minor scuff's you could say, but over all has held up above what I expected it to.
Here is some wear on the under side of the strap, I can see in a year or so this wearing out.
It has been the best EDC I have used to date, I done the whole camera case thing, and every thing between this and those, but so far this has been the best.
I have to run for a little bit guys, but later tonight I will get up some more pictures of the LBV and the other new toys I have.
Here is the vest I've started using, so far its fine, it expandable, plenty big and has lots of room for any and every thing I could need.
Left side, then right.
Then the back.
Here are the contents.
I will try to get a full list up.
I've got every thing for the big five.

Nice setup there Fonly
30 feet or more of 1" tubular webbing & a couple of screwgate locking biners come in handy for lots of stuff.
Patient packaging, gear repair,shoring/reinforcing things like structure parts or deadfalls in the woods...
Do you carry any water or did I just miss it in the pics?

I would like to add as well, this is primarily a wilderness kit, when I'm in the city it changes, like the knife I carry.
the MAK-1 is the preferred choice, really heavy duty blade.

I'm glad to hear how well things are going for you, Fonly. Savour this time. Like the song says, "These are the good old days."
That's cool how well you have your stuff organized.
