I have central air, so I can cool the place off in the afternoon & evening, then turn it off when I go to bed and it's not too warm for sleeping. I've only used the a/c a handful of times this summer, but August is more like July usually is. The forecast is for a few more days of this.

It was sort of hot and a little humid today. That was a big improvement over what it has been for the last few days. Especially
Monday which was downright ugly. Evil or Very Mad The temperature was in the low 30s with the humidex in the 40s. I wrecked my best knife trying to cut my way through the air. I could steam vegetables just by putting them on the barbeque - and not turning it on. You get the idea.

Yeah, it's been pretty humid here, too.

The humidity is at 83% right now. Mad

And it looks like some more bad weather is imminent. Rain will be here shortly. Sometimes that's good, but most of the time, it just rains long enough to make the humidity even worse. Evil or Very Mad

Hot (high 20s) and humid (mid 30s) again. At 7 p.m. we are currently under a severe thunderstorm and tornado watch. There has already been a lot of mayhem around the province this afternoon. No action here yet, but from the sounds of the thunder and the way the wind has picked up, something is getting closer!

Well, we got that storm, all right. Shocked
Toronto got off light compared to the surrounding areas. We had power lines down, flooded streets, etc., but no real damage. Just north of the city, however, tornados were a problem. Over 100 homes were severely damaged, cars were overturned, and trees and hydro poles were knocked over. Amazingly, there were relatively few minor injuries. East of town, though, there was one death: a man who was in a shed that was knocked over.

I shot some video through the window. Each are about 1 minute. This first one shows the wind and rain, and some lightning. Remember, this was tame compared to just a few kilometers away.

This next one shows more lightning, including one bolt that struck so close it was blindingly bright and deafeningly loud. There is even an loud SNAP that I think is one neighbour's phone line and another neighbour's internet cable being zapped.

Well, some nasty weather has passed by, but thankfully I didn't get wet. It looks pretty clear now.

I'm going to hang around campus until I eat supper. The residence hall where they feed the athletes hasn't started swiping cards(to charge your meal plan) yet, so I've been getting free meals since Monday!! Score!! Surprised

If you think it's stealing, it's not. If I don't eat it, it will just get thrown away. Might as well get it while the getting is good. Nobody seems to know when they'll start swiping cards or how much they charge, though. It is pretty much all-you-can-eat home cooking, but they also have some junk food options, as well.

I've been eating pretty good this week!! Mr. Green
