Fire making trip. |
|
Hey guys.
I wanted to share a trip I took with my girlfriend and her little brother last night. We have been moving all day, and thought it would make a nice end to the day to go out and relax by the fire on the river bed.
Of course first off I wanted to get some tinder together, found some staw and twigs and what not to get the fire going.
here I was starting up the fire, I used the edge of the rc6 this time around just to see what it would do, there wasn't any damage to the edge, it was pinging hair off when I started but it would just scrap of hair at the end. I'm really impressed with this knife, Im glad I got ahold of it.
Also, here is where I got my wood for the 2 hours we were there. The wood here ranged from .5" pieces to 3" pieces, this is a group of dead wood I was working with, and after 4 minutes with the gerber folding saw, it was resolved to this.
Im still loving these saw's, the gerber and fiskars are the same overall, but I like the ergo's of the Fiskar telescopic models better. they cut very well and are really durable, at least the old ones were. I have had this saw over 5 years now, same blade, which now has a couple bends in it, but it still works fine.
And here I am ready to take the world on.
Group shot of everything I feel is key, not essential, but what I would like to have.
This all could be done with a folder if need be, the only reason I used the folding saw is because it was there, the wood could be easily broken, but next time I go out I'll see how well it would go with a folder.
Here I am looking out acrost the river, I love this area.
Then a shot of the fire just before we left for the night.
Heres a shot across the river, and you can see the "brother in law" down on the ice.
