Post NEW Gerber Gator Exchange-A-Blade Folding Saw Reply with quote
When I opened my presents on Christmas morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see a new Gerber folding saw in one of them. I instantly realized this was not the one I was used to seeing in the Cabela's catalogs. The GATOR in the title was a dead give-away.

It said on the back of the packaging: Stronger, tougher, more sleek...

I like it! Very Happy

Here it is next to my Mora for comparison:

And open:

I added the orange paracord, by the way.

Saws like a champ. Cool

A very handy tool, indeed. Mr. Green

P.S. My mom got a new camera for Christmas(thank God!), so that's why the picture is so clear.

What do you guys and gals think? Very Happy

Thanks, guys and gal. Cool

Well turd, the lock is devilishly simple, but hard to describe.

You see on the lock where the two rivets are? The one on the right is the pivot for the lock, and the other is the locking bar. There is a slot that is hidden by the locking mechanism that the bar sits in. When you open the saw(it has the same size slot), the mechanism opens by itself(as if you were pushing on it), and the bar pops into place. It's spring loaded, by the way. To close the saw, simply depress the right side of the mechanism(from this point of view). This removes the bar from the slot and the blade can be swung back into the handle. It jiggles just a hair, but I do not forsee this as a problem. Cool

Did that make sense? Shocked Laughing

Nice, gerber and fiskars, though both run by the same company make good saws. They are still a little diffrent overall model to model, but they all come wicked sharp and cut very well.
