Great last episode, with great parting advice! We've been threw a lot with Les, and met some great people on the way!!

I thought a lot of parts in this episode were pretty funny. To start the laughter I loved when he tried to chew through a tree. I thought the vine firestarting thing was pretty cool, but too bad his vine broke. We have lots of grapevine here, and that might be worth a try. This episode also made me not want to go to the jungle. There's tons of bugs and you don't know which are poisonous. I recall his other jungle experiences weren't very good either, like in Costa Rica. Kinda makes you realize what hell vietnam must have been like. In the end I wasn't dissapointed when he went home after 5 days I wouldn't want to with an upset stomach as bad as that. The guys that approached him kinda scared me, because I didn't know if they were the guides and they had their machetes out. Well so long Survivorman! I guess it's better to stop while you're ahead, and at least stop before you get injured like Bear.

I loved it.
I hate the jungle to closed in and it was hard to watch Les being sick and don't blame him for leaving either, I would have done the same.I liked the vine thing too, I want to try it, and the traps the quick kill one and the other one that would send the rat flying. and when he got alittle bit dazed and confused from the nut and leaves, yeah those 2 guys scared me too, they looked like they were reading there machetes for something. loved the ending I almost started crying very moving. I will miss Survivorman and can't wait to see what's next.

I thought the idea of his quick kill trap was good, but the construction wasn't the greatest. It wasn't nearly as strong as it should have been, and wouldn't have penetrated very far at all. I also thought it should have been higher, because the height it was at would go through a pigs legs.

Can't say I really liked this one all that much... I think that he took the high temp butain lighter to show viewers that even if you know every way in the book to light a fire you should take one with you cause it's instant fire. he drank water wiout care of purifying it even tho he had a can to boil water in too which bothered me. Like.. why not? he didn't have to use the fuel to boil the water if he was just purifying it... coulda put it over the fire. anyway... the shelter building was good and the ending was a nice way to wrap up the series... still not my fav episode tho. Could be in part to it being the last episode ever tho...

I knew he shouldn't have chewed that beetle nut. I already knew about it from Last One Standing. It's the crack cocaine of the jungle.

It was alright, but I don't care for Jungles. Especially with all the bugs crawling all over you
Look forward to what He has to bring in the future.

Yeah, most of the guys weren't affected by it, but after the youngest guy took a bite, he got really buzzed and started slurring and laughing.
I was surprised Les was brave enough to try it(or dumb enough, depending on your point of view). I wouldn't have done it. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or be repulsed when he jammed all that trash in his mouth.
It was kind of funny when he pulled that "Survival in a Tin" out of his pack on the second day.
I enjoyed it.

amazing episode. I wasnt not the least bit dissapointed when he left early, man the jungle is brutal! I laughed a lot in this one i found it hilarious. Like when he cutt a tree and the ants popped out.
It was a really cool episode, very "Ray Mears-ish". I thought it was a solid episode.
Great finale.

I think I would have tried the nut but not if I was alone like Les, oh yea that survival in a can was great, very cool episode oh and that stove, was great. I am glad he didn't steal any food I would be worried he'd be in trouble for it. and such a great ending I was choked up.

Thanks. I would do it, but it takes a while to add the poll options and dial-up makes it three times longer.
Get to it when you can. Cheers.

I changed computers so I kind of forgot about this forum. I watched the marathon on Discovery Channel, and really didn't know this was Stroud's last show. I have to say I'll really miss the Survivorman series. It's a great show and very realistic. Man, I felt sorry for him in Papua New Guinea. He didn't look very well. We'll have to see how the 'new' show pans out.

I've only watched this episode once, but my initial impression was that Les was not at the top of his game. When the fire starting vine broke, I thought that with all the jungle vegetation around him, he would find another vine to use. Or try one of the other fire starting methods he mentioned; not pull out a lighter. And why no attempt at catching fish or other aquatic life? There were things I did like about the episode, such as the shelters he made and the edible plants he found. But it seemed to me that being sick before and during the survival week left Les too tired and weak to do the kind of show he might have done if he had gone into it stronger. Even Survivorman is only human, and maybe this episode serves to reenforce the mantra of being prepared because having any kind of illness can make survival even more difficult.
The tribute paid to him by the local tribe was great; a fitting way to wrap up the series.

I thought it was a more " Lazy " episode with Les as well.
It was good, but he seemed more like, lets get this over with. But he did show some good stuff.
And when that tribe came on the 6'th ? day he was pretty much sure !, im out'a here ! lol.

I don't blame him at all being sick just wears you out. with crohns you do get like les said big water. it's tough enough being sick in your own home but out in the jungle I can sympathize. all you want to do is crawl into bed. so I commend Les for sticking it out as long as he did. I too loved the last scene with the tribe. excellent.

I really think all this survival stuff and hard work has made Les age faster than normal sadly. I watched Snowshoes and Solitude for the first time today and I remarked to myself how young he looked, while his wife looks about the same as she does in Off the Grid. I think thats part of the reason he isn't going to do the survivorman show anymore and will do something less strenuous.
