Found this cool artical in one of my mag's. Cool

The gray Wolf family becomes the worlds largest canine group.

>> 100,000 B.C

Gray wolves & subspecies are spread across Asia, the middle East, Europe & America.
Man begins selecting wolves for puppy characteristics as camp pets.

>> 20,000 - 10,000 B.C

Stone age man breeds dogs for his own purpose. Oldest evidence is a 14,00 year old jaw with teeth of a modern dog
configuration found in Iraq.

>> 7,000 B.C

Egyptians develop dogs from their region, Tibet & China.

>> 4,500 B.C

Fossils of the period are of poniter types, mastiff's Very Happy greyhounds, sheperds & the wolf-like spitz.

>> 3,500 B.C

Basic dog types reach Europe.

>> 3,000 B.C

Prototype pointer skeleton found in England exhibits evidence of greyhounds & mastiff characteristics. Modern hunting dogs
will evolve from these prototypes, called Canis familiaris intermedius.

>> 2,000 B.C

As the Neolithic peroid ends, most basic breeds are established.

>> 27 - 79 A.D

The Roman Pliny writesbout hunters carrying dogs that stiffen and point their noses at game
concealed in undergrowth.

>> 100 - 1500

Though there are few breeds in any one region { Shakespeare mentions only eight } breeds & strains number into the thousands worldwide.

>> 1800 - 1900

Distinctive breed seperations & refinements advance rapidly through kennel clubs & breeding.
About 400 breeds exist today. Cool
