Long time ago I found a forum that had all the information that was on les's forum without all the spam... still had updates from the new seasons as they happened and we were still able to ask him questions that we thought of while watching his shows..... pretty sure I stay'd at that site for a reason. It's a sin he has to shut his down all the time thought..

I didn't go there often because there seemed to be too many people and threads to keep track of. I was just thinking I should check in there some time soon.
Thanks for the info, Trooper.

It is sad that he has to keep closing down the forums, people need to be more respectful of what these places try to accomplish. I never went back to his forum after joining up here, sadly, I guessed it would only be a matter of time anyways.

I never did either, Brian. When I saw that he had a new one, I went over there to look at it, but I felt no urge to join at all.

It's a shame he will not have one anymore. Confused

Oh well, at least we still have ours. Smile

cool. if you are in contact with any people from that forum you could let them know about this place. I could imagine there were some regulars on there that are now "homeless"

This kinda reminds me of my myspace accounts. I tried twice, didn't like it and deleted them both. Laughing

Thanks for your kind words but it really wasnt me that did anything really. I just started up a forum eventually and everyone that is apart of it made it what it is today. Plus Bravo did a great job making a home for the remaining oldschool members. I am greatful we stil have a few surviving sites like bravos becuase after a while there were friendships made and it would be a shame if everyone just disapeared. I know i;ve made great friendships of the years and thats my favorite part of being part of any type of forum.

I dont know how I would do as a site admin with so many people becuase its really a lot of work. The thing I have learned from all these years work on forums is

1) - You need to have everyone on the same page, the boss has to know whats going on with other opperations
2) - You need suffient staffing, you can never have too many mods and admins. people are willing to help for free
3) - If you have enthustastic people who love the topic (whatever it many be) the forum is made under they are better candidates for managment than hiring people who just know how to run forums but dont really care about topic.

Thanks Hazey Smile

One reason that it works so well here is that each member knows their limits on what they can say and what they shouldn't say. We all have a mutual respect for one another, and don't want to make any bad relationships here. Cool

Mystic Spiral, I appreciate Max's rules - especially those that stipulate that religious/spiratual and political discussions are limited. I love to talk about such subjects, but realize that many internet denizens don't have the intellectual or emotional fortitude to discuss such matters in a meaningful, educated, productive way... There's a lot of predjudice, myopia, bigotry, and stupidity out there....

Max has done a great job dedicating his site wilderness and outdoor knowledge, survial and emergency preparedness. I love to browse it for new ideas and stuff, the conversation is often weak in the philosophy departement, but thats cool - its got gusto where it counts. Kudos.

The point of not going into political, or philosophical discussion is to maintain a proffesional relationship with the rest of the users on the board. Sure we could talk about that, but there's no need. Everyone's happy with the forums monolog, and that's what makes us succesful. Cool
