Picked it up last week. It's from the military so you know it's quality stuff, though I laughed at the fact that it says Noone knows survival better than the US Army. Little known fact is the Army, Navy, and Marines ALL train under the AIRFORCE in Arkansas for their survival training Laughing

Anyway, the book has pretty much everything under the sun. Chapters cover as follows; Mentality, planning, medicine, weapons and tools, water procurement, wild plants for food, shelters, firebuilding, water crossings, direction finding, signaling, desert survival, tropical survival, arctic and subarctic survival, sea survival, and knots. It also has apendicies of poisonous snakes, using clouds to foretell weather, edible plants (pictures of them and what parts you can eat) and poisonous plants.

I give it a 5 out of 5. It has EVERYTHING. Check it out at Barnes and Noble.com

You can buy it online for only 8 bucks Cool

I like some of the bigger ones that have tons of pictures, I think one is ultimate survival, there are others like it too. Tons of pics with how-to's.

Right.... Have you ever tried to read a whole book on the computer? It sucks. We were supposed to do it for my science class and I only read it after the teacher gave me a hard copy. Books still win over reading on the internet... for now. Sony has made this thing where you download the books from your computer and then put them on what looks a lot like a palm pilot. Backlighted, light weight, and it doesnt suck to read off of for hours on end Cool

I guess if you read it sections at a time and took breaks it would be fine, but when I have a job and since I dont drive I dont pay for gas. I can throw a little money here and there into some books Wink

Yeah, and besides, it's not like you're going to carry your computer around in the woods to check how to make that figure-4 deadfall, are you? Wink Laughing

That is a good enough reason to buy the book. It's easy to bring it with you. Cool

Not when you can put it on your phone for less weight, and less girth than the book itself. Twisted Evil Laughing
