Post Fire Demo Reply with quote
At the local Muesam I have been asked to give a fire demo at their big event day. They are just thinking flint and steel, but I have been thinking and I would like to do a little more, I am going to try and get the bow drill down by then (Aug 24th) and maybe another method or two. What do you think would be most entertaining or what should I talk about while I'm giving the demo? Thanks!

Well, the Bow Drill is a great way to show people how to make fire Cool

Useing steel wool & batteries is a cool visual effect Cool

With the bow drill probably the most important thing I can think of to make it work right is very fine tinder. If you just use pulled apart jute cord it doesn't work, you have to scrape it against a rock, so make sure that's good to go, whatever tinder you use. Cool

I'd tell them some history if you can find it, and you can use what I said about char cloth to tell them. How it's waterproof, windproof, and gets as hot as the coals. Cool If you tell them breifly about how to make it you'll get their attention, because they'll think it's a magic substance that has to be made in a factory, but really they can make it at home.

Thanks guys Smile I am pretty sure its supposed to be primitive fire types, or at least like flint and steel. I think I'll show some others too though.
