Internet Dating |
|
When internet dating first started up people were very sceptical, and many people thought it was only for losers. Now that it's been around for a while I think many people changed their minds. I want to see what your opinions are on it.
I'm pretty sure my brother met his girlfriend on the internet, they're probably going to get married sometime. I didn't go through an internet dating service, but I fell in love with someone I met online. My cousin was an exchange student in France, and became friends with her, and when he came back to the US I started talking to her. We've known each other for a while, and I can't imagine somebody more perfect than she.

I am not a big fan of the internet dating, I guess I am just too old fashioned. Something about in person being with the person from when you first meet on...I can't explain it really, just prefer the old fashion way. But more power to you if you find love by any means available to you

Welllll... true confessions, I met Sarah thru Eharmony, and we've been together for awhile now. My own opinion is that at least that service is for real, with psych profiling, matching, and many levels of communication/safety before you can actually meet someone. For what it's worth, Sarah is the closest I've met to a "soulmate", ex-wife included.
In this day and age I think it's sometimes pretty difficult to meet nice (and sane) people thru old-fashioned ways. And, especially with psych and personality matching, using a reputable service can be a very good thing, rather than the expensive hit-or-miss of the old dating scene.
My .02 worth.

I'm all for it. I met my husband online, not a dating service but another message board I'm on. OK, so we first met in person at a big get together for the board, but as he lived in Canada and me in the States, we did the long distance thing and emails/chatting went a long way. I have met and dated other men that I met online too though.
I think once you get past a certain age, it's hard to meet people. Unless you're out bar hopping and as if that's a great place to meet anyone decent once the beer goggles come off.

I wouldn't just because you don't know the other person on the other end. and I am in a very happy relationship.

I see nothing wrong with it, its just not for me. I have to have known the person for a decent amount of time, and be able to be around them if I'm going to consider it.

I no longer talk to the girl I was "dating" on the internet. In some ways you can know the other person really good, but some things you wont find out for a while on the internet. I do like flirting in person better. It just feels right, and it's exciting.
