The Echo Game |
|
For my final exam in gym class we have to invent a game. I stole my idea from the movie, "House of Flying Daggers." I just made it into a game without knifes.
The Echo Game
Players
Game play consists of 2 players
Purpose
To test players hand-ear coordination, and reaction time
Supplies
1-Blindfold
3-small dodge balls
8-basketballs
Arena Setup
There is a blindfolded person in the center called the Thrower. Around him will be 8 evenly spaced basketballs, 20 feet away from him. The other player, called the Drummer, will be situated on the outside of the circle. The thrower is provided with 3 small dodge balls.
Game Play
Drummer
The Drummer starts the game by going up to a basketball, picking it up, and dribbling the ball 7 times. The Drummer can’t take a step, or dodge the dodge ball. Also the Drummer must remain standing up straight while dribbling. If any of these rules are broken a point is given to the Thrower, unless the Drummer is hit. Once the Drummer is done dribbling the ball he quickly returns the ball to the floor. He then silently moves to another all of his choosing, and repeats the same process or dribbling 7 times, and returning it to the floor.
Thrower
The Thrower is situated in the center of the circle. He’s blindfolded, and provided with 3 dodge balls. Once he hears the Drummer dribble the ball he quickly throws the ball, and tries to hit the Drummer. When he hit’s the Drummer he’s awarded a point. A hit only counts from the time the basketball is picked up by the Drummer to the time he returns it to the ground. The Thrower may take one step to throw the ball. If he takes more than one step a point is awarded to the Drummer. Once the Thrower has used all 3 dodge balls the round is over. Then the Drummer becomes the Thrower, and the Thrower becomes the Drummer.
Length of Play
When both players have completed a round, they have completed one set. The game is over when 7 sets have been completed. The player with the most points wins.

Sounds like fun.
I like these gym-type games.
There's another where you have a ring of people(10-30 usually), and you start out with one basketball. The first person(the one who brought the ball, usually) throws it to the person of their chosing, then that person throws it to another person, etc....until everybody has thrown the ball and it ends back up at the beginning person.(nobody can touch it twice in one round) After practicing this a few times, everybody throwing to the same one they did before, a second ball is introduced. This one follows the same course as the first. The first ball gets going, then a few seconds later the second goes. The object is to get as many balls as possible going at once without having a crash. The most I have heard was 6 at once.

It gets a little dicey after the 3rd or 4th, but it's fun anyway.
The kids only got 3 or 4. The parents got 6 in the air.
