Well I paddled out to Point Sauble wildlife area. It was about 2 miles there. It was very windy, and there was probably 2-3' waves. The waves really make you dig in more when your paddling, making you more tired. It took about 1 hour just to get out there. I landed, and hung my stuff up to dry. Then I just walked around for a while. They should call that muscle point, because there's more muscles than sand. Shocked Then I thought wouldn't it be cool to make a kite and strap it on my kayak, because it's so windy, and I'm going down wind. So I gut my 4'x3' garbage bag up so I had a 4'x6' sheet. Then I used rocks to tie the rope in the sheet. I tied it on my kayak and was all ready to go. So i paddled where the wind was and put my kite up. It took a little working but I got it up so long as I held the ropes up. There's one problem with that. The 3' waves were turning me so I'd go parallel with the wave, and so I didn't go anywhere. Mad I surfed a few of the waves but it was very difficult, and tiring but I got back alright.

Here's the pictures of the beach. Cool

If you didn't notice in the first two pictures you can't see any sand. It's all muscles. The third picture there's a bit of a cliff at the water line, that's a big bank of muscles too. Shocked

Good pics Mystick. Looks pretty choppy out there fo sure. Ive delt with head winds many times in the canoe.
Its a work out. I was on a 3km lake and was about half way and the winds kicked from the west, & i was heading that way.
So i paddled my a** off for 25 minutes all i had just so i wouldn't end up at the far south end, where theres nothing, lol.
I was sore for a day after that Cool

That's why I chose a kayak. I couldn't imagine paddling a canoe by myself in strong winds. Shocked

Went out on the fox river today. It's smack in the middle of town. It's a big river. Big enough to get freighters in. I went upstream which is south first to the dam. I looked at it and the new bridge and turned around. I went past my brothers new work. He's a chef at Marcos. It's a gormet seafood place. Then I went past the railroad bridge. It was burnt up from years ago, but still standing. There was a stone that said 1902 on it. I then checked out this big ship from Clevland Ohio. There were a few signs by the port too. It said that the port saves 40,000 freight train trips a year, and Green Bay receives 2.5 mega tons a year by ship. There were big oil tanks by there, and there's big coal piles by the river too. People hate the piles because the coal dust gets their houses dirty. I then headed back. Then by the other railroad bridge I was this half sunk ship. I remember that, so I went over there and checked it out. I paddled my boat in the boat. I thought of SurvivorKid909 out there with his geocaching. I thought that there would be great places to put a cache that nobody would ever get. Somewhere inside the sunken boat or up on the railroad bridges. The railroad bridges have a section that rotates so tall boats can go through. They stay open until a train goes by. That was fun, but I was exhausted by the end.

Went up to the Menomenee river today. It's about 90 miles north, so about 1 1/2 hours. I hate driving long distances, because I start to drift off. Confused My friends brought their boat which was a 14' with a 20 horse motor. I paddled lots up river and then back down stream. We all stopped for lunch on an island that people can camp on. We were all a bit chilled, so they were saying it would be nice to have a fire. About 10 minutes I made a roaring fire. They were pretty impressed actually. I just picked up some twigs, birch bark, and lit it with my bic from my first aid kit. Then I found a few bigger sticks, and it felt really good to sit by a warm fire on a cold day. Then we had some fun with the kayak. I hung on to the side of the motor boat, and it was funny because people were looking at us funny. Laughing We tried a ski rope too, but that didn't work too good, so they took me back upstream on the side again. It was cool because we could all talk then. Unfortunately I did more paddling than fishing, so I caught nothing. My friend caught three bass. It was cold so that didn't help our chances today either. All in all it was fun, but I'm exhausted.

Nothing like plenty of exercise to make you sleep good. Cool

I find it funny when people are amazed by folks like us. Believe it or not, there are people out there who don't have a clue how to start a fire. I have seen a full-grown man try to light a whole log with a lighter and one of those little store-bought kindling sticks. It was sad. They don't realize you have to start out small and work your way up. His fire went out in five minutes, by the way.

Yeah my fire was really speedy even for what I normally do so I was pleasantly surprised. I guess you have to know what to look for, and you're golden. I just had to light it and it was off. Cool

Went on another adventure today. Took my kayak to Draper Lake, just south of base. Paddled a couple miles to the middle of the lake to this really cool island. It's full of holes and it's like a small plateau. Really cool, I'll go back when I have more time.

THis was my first time out, I think I'll go back there next time. I might check out the river downtown, or some other lakes. You'd think oklahoma would be dry, but really there's lots of lakes.

Had an exellent paddle today. I got out early so I could spend as long as I wanted today. I went back to draper lake, with plans to go out to the island again, but there was a beautiful beach calling me in. The beaches around the lake were really nice, with good sand. So I stopped for lunch and I made a campfire. I used the large reed grass for tinder. I was going to use my char cloth to light it, but my firesteel was missing from my first aid/ survival kit. Luckily I keep matches in there as well, and I lit the fire with one match. The grass worked very well. As I looked around I saw people across the bay, and I realized I was in a place where people don't get to very often unless you have a boat. Nice and private.
So after a few hours I got in my kayak and set out for the island. This time I took more pictures so you can see. I took a closer look, and realized that the island had more holes then i thought. A sculpture carved by the wind.
