Did anyone here see the premier of this show and what did you think? I didn't really like it all that much. I love Les' in Survivorman and some other productions but not this one. I don't know I guess I didn't find it as applicable as the others. People that do mountain climbing...etc. may have liked it.

I liked it. I guess I could relate to it because in wisconsin we get snow and freezing waters. Though I don't think I'll be crossing glaciers or going on any mountains anytime soon. Wink

It was interesting, but not nearly as good as Survivorman. It was more >experiment, see what happens< than go out and survive. Still had some useful info, though. Very Happy

You can call me flash. Very Happy

And yes, you are right. It was kind of amazing watching the doc calmly talking to Les like the cold water was nothing to him. Surprised

I liked it, all in all. Cool

I thought it was pretty good, and the strategies they use for some of it are applicable in many places, like falling through ice, or being caught out for a night in the snow. Other parts were more case specific, but it was still pretty good and I enjoyed it.

Yeah, the Coast Guard did a pretty good job. Cool

Les's gumby suit is different than the survival suits the crab fishermen have in the Bering Sea, though. Confused

Those glacier guides are fairly smart, too. The rope/pully system they used was pretty ingenious. Cool

I remember pulleys from physics, but they showed it so quick I didn't have time to comprehend the exact principles of their system. Surprised

I think the Gumby suit is supposed to keep you dry. The survival suit is supposed to warm the water that gets inside the suit. Smile
