Personally I'd make your own. There's a lot of benefit to doing that. First you only take what you'll ever use, and second it makes your first aid kid a lot lighter to carry than the store bought one.

I bought a basic kit & added to it. The kit was $ 5.00
More invovled kits can run up to $ 25.00 & more, i personaly wouldn't want to carry all that in my pack. No need.
Unless your with 5 or more people on a 5 days trek.

I agree.
I bough a fire aid kit at Canadian tire and it was decent sized. I took out some stuff and added more bandage and whatnot. Its good to personalize it, that way when something happens you know what you got.

Ok, I took some pictures of what's in my first aid kit. It originally was a store bought first aid kit, but by stripping it down I reduced the weight in half. I also added some goodies of my own.
1: Computer hard drive disc/ signal mirror
2: Pen
3: small bandaids
4: large bandaids
5: tweezers
6: safety pins
7: topical ointment
8: electrolyte tablets
9: gloves
10: duct tape
11: floss with needle inside the lid
12: medical tape
13: matches
14: wetfire tablet
15: alcohol pads
16: bic lighter
17: gauze pads
18: space blanket
19: wire

Good catch, linsey. I'd also add to it to it one old-fashioned triangular bandage, made out of a gaudy bright colored heavy sheet or pillowcase. Some of the old timey first aid sites probably have some good dimensions for them. It should be big enough to pinch hit for a sling. The reason for the bright color is that it can have a second purpose as a flag to rescuers.
OH, and you may want to find and include a little packet of instructions for the triangular bandage, because it can be folded a LOT of ways to do various larger bandages.

I would suggest adding butterfly bandages.

Well I'm sure my kit could have more things, but it's a basic first aid/survival kit. I really wanted the kit to be light, and not have anything special in it, only what's invaluable to me.
Here's what I took out of the original kit.
Moist towlets
extra bandages
insect sting releif wipes
popsicle sticks
first aid instructions (already trained)
antacid tabs
tylenol
crappy scissors
cold pack

didn't read all the posts so i'm probably just repeating a lot.. but making your own is best. the only good thing about bought ones are the cases... i can't seem to ever find a good case anywhere but made due with tupperware containers.. but yeah, make your own.. cheeper and has everthing you want.

Adventure Medical Kits makes the best out there. I would recommend getting one of theirs, depending on your needs, and personalizing it to suit you.
Good luck.

That would be the plane fabric.
