Yeah, good instructions.
I've done it so many times now, I don't even have to pay much attention to the process or angle. It just comes naturally. I start taking strokes and before I know it, my knife is sharpened.
I just had to sharpen my pocket knife the other day, and I must say, I did a swell job. I also had to sharpen my dad's Gerber 300 pocket knife. It takes a good edge, but doesn't seem to last long. He just uses it for cutting hay rope and the occasional apple-peeling. I don't know why the edge doesn't last long. I guess it's the steel. I'm not sure what kind it is. I just looked it up, and ebay has it as "high carbon stainless steel".
Here is a pic:
It's a nice little knife, but doesn't keep its edge long. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't mind having one myself.

Yup, once you have sharpened your knife several times you start to get the hang of it.

Yeah, before I was constantly scrutinizing my method and making sure I was doing it right. Now, it just comes naturally.

That Gerber looks like one of thier Ultralight LST models.
They used 420HC for the blade steel & the locking mechanism.
Not a bad little knife , but like you said , it will need to be sharpened often.

Yeah, it is a cute and handy little folder, but I'll keep my Leatherman for now. My sister got it for my dad for Christmas or something.
Soon to come for me though, Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian.
I'm not sure where I'm going to buy it, though. www.newgraham.com doesn't carry it anymore and isn't going to be getting anymore.
Any other recommended sites with good prices?

Try here....
http://www.twowolvesoutdoor.com/minigrip556.htm
$70.00
Good folks to deal with (LupaWolf / Ghost Wolf over at BFC)
Seems like Benchmade decided to no longer do business though any distributors, but only sell direct to the end user
So unless you can find one in stock at a dealer now, you'll have to get it direct from Benchmade.
Go figure

What the crap?!
That's just ridiculous.
I guess they figure they can make more money that way(by charging the full MSRP instead of selling them to dealers for less).
Whatever!
New Graham had it for $56.95 + 6.95 shipping.
I still want one, but they lost a little of my respect for that. If it wasn't such a great knife, they would have lost my business.
Any chance you would be willing to share one of yours?

It's a very good knife...no question about that.
But there are tons of very good knives available that are easier to get.
(AIN'T WE LUCKY FOR THAT!!!!)
Check out the Spyderco Native or Tenasious (or however it's spelled) , the RAT #1 folder , the KaBar Dozier models...all good knives without the hassle.
I'm afraid I've already shared my Benchmades...my son traded me out of them awhile back.
I taught him well

Darn!
Any chance he would be willing to sell one for a spectacular price?
I think I'll surf the net and see if I can find one cheaper than $70 + shipping.
Aha!

eBay has some, too.
Check out this one!
www.workingperson.com
^I think this is the one I'll be ordering it from!
One Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian is on its way!
