Thanks for the idea Bushrat although i think i will make the fork/spork out of hard wood. The soft wood wouldn't hold the shape of the fork prongs very long i think.
It will be a challenge to make a fork. Im In ! Cheers.

Well got my Hardwood Utensils done. I used Rosewood, really nice wood to work with.
I didn't make a " spork " Bushrat but i will later just for the challenge.
The pics aren't great but you can see them alright. The fork has a differant shape, why ? ... just cause
Its hard sanding this stuff but comes out like glass, worth the work. I could get a good point on the fork as well.
And will hold up good with general eating use. Im going to make a Knife to finish the set as well.
The wood i had left over from a job i did a year ago, its flooring. Thats why NEVER disgard good wood, no matter how small, you never know where you might get to use it

those are awesome but for a spork kinda think you should just make a fork on one end and a spoon on the other i think it would be easyer that way and it would take up less room as well.

That was kind of the plan i was thinking. I could still make a spork, spoon/fork built in, it wouldn't be to tuff.
But i like the idea of a spoon at one end & fork at another. Some people wouldn't call it a spork cause its not made as 1 Utensil. Bah ! .... who cares, lol.

For anyone that may want to try spoon carving here is a pic of some strait forward spoons.
I think they look great, i like the carved look, but I for some reason start sanding and can't stop !
If you do want to try; Start with a soft wood. Poplar, Spruce, or Hemlock. And if posible get a carving knife.
They have nice fitting handles in your hand and small curved blades. Around $ 15.00 to $ 45.00 & up of course.
A great carving wood is Boxwood. Cost is more though. Any scrap wood will work fine for a first time go at it.
And any knife that is sharp is fine. But !! make sure it is sharp, cause " A dull knife is a dangerous knife "
trust me. You push or pull twice as hard to make the cut, then, it jumps and goes into you not a good thing. SHARP IS A GOOD THING

That's what I started thinking, too. But I think we really should come up with a unique name to distinguish it from a spork. How about foroon?
