Roll Bag or HOBO Bag |
|
I would like to share one of the most versatile bags I have found to carry items in from food and stoves to blankets and clothing.
I use it for carrying my food and alcohol stove items. But it can be used for many things. I call it a HOBO bag, but I have heard it called a roll bag as well.
It also unzips and rolls out to a small tarp, it has draw strings on each end and a shoulder strap to carry and a carry handle.
Basically you roll your gear up, zip it closed, use the draw strings on both ends, (I double secure both ends with a couple pieces of 550 cord) and away you go.
Works great for different and varying size loads. The tied roll is about 30 inchs long. Tarp is 30 inches x 58 inches. made from waterproof material. there are two compression straps sewn to the outside. and two inside tie down loops.
It's original purpose was to store rescue rope in. It is called a Black Diamond Slacker Rope Bag. Costs about $40.00.
Pictures below with some gear.
ENJOY!!!!!!!

Almost like a modern day bedroll... very nice... and by the looks of it... easy to make.

Askdamice.............actually I did make one from a cotton material and have been using it for about 2 years.
But when I seen this I bought it because of the waterproof nylon and other features, I don't like the color, I am partial to camo.

Like a canvas cotton?... I made a haversack out of thick canvas and waterproofed it using a mixture of lindseed oil beeswax and paraffin... heated it up on the stove and painted it into the fabric. It has a great oilskin look. I also did it to a Paratrooper bag and added a thick 2.5" leather strap.

Stove works really well, and it is built well. my stoves made from soda cans didn't last as long. the burner on a trangia is heavy made.
askdamice, nice gear, you make some nice stuff and the craftmanship is incredable
