Survival Shelter Reality |
|
The purpose of this post is not to condemn the study of primative skills or primative shelter building. I enjoy both myself and have done it for many years.
The purpose is to keep in mind that a true survival situation shelter when needed may not be able to be built for several reasons. Reasons like You may be injured badly enough that building anything may be difficult or impossible. Many people placed in survival situations need the shelter NOW because they may already be hypothermic or the weather turned bad quickly. And let's just face fact that building a windproof and waterproof shelter from natural materials is difficult if not impossible. (I know many will disagree on this fact.). and then we have the availability of natural materials that don't need cut, prepared or lashed together. Again don't get me wrong a carefully constructed shelter from natural materials is a thing of beauty. But I think a true survival shelter should be something quick, like a 3-4 mil tube tent a sturdy tarp or plastic sheet or 3-4 mil drum liner bag. Something you can utilize being injured, or hypothermic. Remember you need it NOW this is life or death. Even if you don't have one of these shelters, your true first survival shelter is your clothing (or should be) and it should be proper clothing in layers and that takes thought, planning, and preparation. So I hope all of you give this some thought and include one of these shelters in your "REALITY SURVIVAL KIT"

I remember the old Tude Tents, do they still make those ?...
Good post tfisher, all to true. When truly down & out & unable to build the great shelter & the reality is your injured, somthing like a { Tude Tent } is very easy to put up.

This would be the perfect thing to have for that type of situation.

$11.95 is the cheapest I have seen it.(plus shipping)
But if you buy more stuff shipping is free. ($50 worth)
A good excuse to buy more.
