Yeah, I've seen that video.
Mine is the 1095 steel version and not the D2 steel.

I think the D2 steel is a little bit harder. Confused
I'm told that the difference isn't that big. Cool

For all of you "Spec Techs" out there.....

D2 can be seen as a "semi stainless" steel due to its higher chromium content, although it isn't actually a stainless steel.
It is sometimes hardened up to 64 Rockwell for cutlery as opposed to 57-59 for 1095. Typical hardness in a D2 knife blade will be around 60.
It's a fine choice for smaller blades that probably won't see much hard use-because of its hardness it can have a tendancy to chip when doing things like chopping/batonning.

I have several D2 blades & while they do hold an edge for a long time, they're pretty difficult to sharpen when the time comes.

That's why outfits like Rat Cutlery KaBar use 1095 hardened to 57-59 in thier blades...easier to field sharpen.

Anyway...you're going to like that 1095 Rat 7 just fine.
There's a bit of smack talk going on about how much better the Rowan made Rat Cutlery knives are vs the older Ontario made blades.
I have both & have used both pretty hard & they both held up just fine to anything I've used them for.

Hope you can post some action pics when you get it!!!
