Not the clearest photos ever, but...Mountain Lion (maybe....I don't know any reason why there would be a dog where I was and the area is known for its very high mountain lion population) in fresh mud... Shocked

I really cranked up the sharpness in the second one to bring out the shapes better even though it is quite grainy looking now.

Wowow.. Those would've freaked me out, Winter. How big do you think that cat was judging by the size of it's paws?

Hmm..the weird thing about the track, now that I look at it is the claws...Mountain lions don't generally have claws on their tracks unless they are ready to attack something...but the absence of most of the back of the foot is a bit odd. It does resemble a large dog's tracks in some ways, but this was in the lower rockies in a large area run by the boy scouts. The only way a domestic dog would be there is if a ranger had a dog in his truck or something....but there were no other footprints of an owner....just the animal...or it might have been a coyote track (now seems like a strong possibility to me)...At any rate it really freaked us out when we were there.

Always good to be cautious. It would be bad to say, "Aww, it's just a dog track", and then a cat jumps on you. Shocked

+1 the claw marks are the give away.

Here is coyote track I found up on the highest mountain in the area a few months back. It was kind of cool to see, and to wonder why it was up there to begin with. Cool

well forget tracks listen to this.

This morning a raccoon climbed a tree in my backyard. It made the dogs go nutts. It stayed up there the whole day. It moved from 1 tree to another, but ti wouldnt go away.

I sprayed it with water - nothing
I poke dit with a rake - nothing
I set off firecrackers - nothing
My dog bit it in the butt when I thought it was gone - nothing

I literly had to to push it away with a hocky stick, now its in my front yard.

sure its cute, but its bothing my dogs and wont leave them alone.

here is a video, I think its better than a pic

Looks pretty tame Trooper. Might be someone's lost pet. Even in the city, surrounded by people all the time, the wild one's won't let you get that close to them.
