Les's extra goodies |
|
It seems to me that Les has a lot more supplies on season 2. A lot of people don't like that idea, but I think Les has time after time proven what he can do. I don't really care if he has more stuff, and it kindof even makes it more fun to watch. What do you think?

Well I think there are 2 sides to this:
1) He may have a lot of stuff but he can show us more tricks with that stuff
2) He may have more and it can be easier for him and people might not like that
Personally I dont mind, if he has some tricks he can show then thats cool, I can learn something. There isnt much I can learn when he only has some bubble gum and a credit card

I'm of the opinion that Les is excellent at survival with bare minimum (and has proved that with the first season) and there is no reason he can't have a few more goodies to show us tricks with...after all, if one of us ends up in a real survival situation, you'll have quite a bit more knowledge at your disposal...sure you may not have everything Les had access to, but you may have one of the things he has used. As long as he doesn't go Bear Grylls on us (and I don't have any reason to suspect he would) a few more items can't hurt. Plus, there was talk about a can of bear pepper spray on one episode...He may enjoy survival situations, but the fact that it's now a TV show means that he has to do it more often than he would like. For no amount of money would I be persuaded to risk my life any more than necessary...especially when a preventative measure is simple and does not interfere with the experience except to avoid death should it become an issue.
Sure, there is a thrill to having nothing on your person and to find your way out (or watching Les do it), but there are other sides to it. First, with no supplies, tricks repeat themselves and the show gets boring except for new scenery. Second, you really shouldn't try to find your way out unless you are completely sure nobody is coming for you or knows where you are. If Les sat still for a week, there is no show though. I give him a lot of credit for going through with season 2 at all.

I think it is more realistic because everybody has something in their pockets.
I agree with Troop and Winter.

Yup, got to agree with you guys. Most people that get lost/stranded probably have a bit more at their disposal than a multi-tool and some granola.
People have been know to get lost with a pack filled with gear and still not make it.

I like the fact that Les has started carrying extra gear around. But it's nothing like a backpacking series or anything.. it's still a survival series. Most of the stuff Les has on him during that time is something everyone going into the back country should have. Only a fool would neglect some of the essentials. But he's stayed true to form otherwise. Rummaging through the coast line or bush to find anything he can put to use... and thanks(unfortunately) to us, he has found tons of junk that he has used for survival that he didn't carry in with him. So I've got no problems with him carrying in all the extra gear.
